Commercial Auto Insurance
Pennsylvania requires that vehicles for business use carry a minimum insurance coverage of $15,000 per person, $30,000 per accident, $5,000 for property, and $5,000 for medical. However, these amounts might not be enough to cover a major accident, making your business vulnerable to lawsuits, especially if you are found to be guilty or negligent. We’re here to help you choose the best coverage for your needs.
What exactly do these amounts cover?
Bodily Injury Liability - will cover medical expenses if you injure someone in an accident when it’s your fault. The minimum $15,000 pays for the injuries per person, while the $30,000 represents the maximum that will be paid out per accident.
Property Damages - will cover damage to someone’s property if you are at fault. The minimum coverage of $5,000 can be increased if desired.
Medical - will pay for you and your passengers’ medical expenses. The minimum $5,000 coverage refers to the amount that will be paid to cover medical expenses per person.
Tort options are also something to consider. What is tort coverage?
Limited Tort - allows you to save on your premiums by waiving your right to recover certain damages, such as suing for pain and suffering.
Full Tort - allows you to retain unrestricted rights to bring lawsuits against the negligent party after an automobile accident.
Other coverage options to consider.
Collision - will pay for damages to your car or truck if you are at fault for an accident. The only thing you pay is the chosen deductible, which is the amount you pay out of pocket. Deductibles range from $100 up to $1500.
Comprehensive - will cover your vehicle if stolen or is vandalized. Again, a deductible must be paid out.
Uninsured/Underinsured - will cover your expenses after an accident if it was not your fault and the at-fault driver doesn’t have enough insurance coverage to pay for your damages and/or injuries.
